Back from wherever te fuck I was...

Well here I am.
And it's been a loong time.
I blame lack of posts to chronic fatigue, being burnt out at work, my ability to catch every fucking flu floating around and a vivid family life happening to me lately.
So, there's no huge update, loaded with stuff I did while away from blogland but at least I am back and I hope to be more productive in the future.
Book wise I am screwed. I do not know where to start but I will try to get it worked out. One problem is the fact that Some of the stuff I wanted to print was done using photos as a reference, and I do not know what the copyright issues might arise from printing my sketches based on those.
I will try to find some way to work around it all and I am still digging through fucking hard drives and old unlabeled CDs to see what is there looking half decent and print worthy.
I also talked with Dr Alberto R :), who was ridiculously kind to offer his help. It was the most amazing option I could think of until we realized that we live on different continents and that having him get it done would be financially disastrous and could not work. And I apologize to you, Mr Ruiz, for not replying to your last e-mail, fucking life is moving too fast for me and, unless I reply to my e-mails instantly, I totally forget they ever happened. Hell I can't even remember what I had for lunch yesterday. I should try to get some help from one of those memory experts, but they do not come cheap.
Which opens another bag of trouble and worry.
I think something is wrong with me.
Today, we went for lunch with some friends. I woke up feeling pretty good and after much yelling and jumping around in a fit of rage, apparently offering much delightful entertainment to my wife and kids in the process, I managed to get the whole family in the car and head off to the restaurant being only 15minutes late in the end. (nowadays, my manly, "alpha male displays of anger" involving roaring on top of my lungs, jumping around and bulging my eyes at the members of the family while ripping my shirt in the process do not yield desired effect- all they do is entertain my family members who do not even try to hide their shit eating grins while I am flipping out)
My older son is getting his driver's license soon as well, so he tries to grab the driver's seat any chance he gets. So another fit of rage later, induced by his lack of ability to listen to my instructions, we finally arrived to the restaurant.
When we met with the friends first thing I was told is how I have massive black rings around my eyes. That freaked me out and I spent the rest of the day trying to determine whether they look any "blacker" than usual.
The answer is- I do not know. I should get it checked I guess.
For a long time now I had those, and all I was told so far that is that I run on adrenalin or something.
I really do not care at this point, but I still get concerned on occasion.
And this is a wrap-up to this post.
I should do more soon.
Here's Some token art now.
Thanks all for visiting once again,

Kind regards,

Milenko

Always love to see new stuff from you. Hope things improve for you soon!!

Hmmm... perhaps you could hire models with the express purpose of using them as refernce for your book, hence the pics (and the copyright) would belong to you. Just an idea...

Again, love your stuff. Cheers! ^_^

Jeezus Milenko!

sorry to hear that lots of shit is happenning to you, but as you say "your life is one big fucking joke" to your family, lol.

Anyhoo, some of these drawings I like, and some of them arn't the best, but you have been under a lot of pressure I guess.

for your book, have you tried Lulu.com like I suggested last time I talked to you? might be good just to make a few sample copies to see what they look like printed, etc. I've tried it for BKCB and it is very quick, cheap, and easy (I can print only one or five copies of something if I want).

cheers mate, good luck to you, I will buy ten copies of your book when you make it

Man. It's great to have you back though I'll admit that I'm sorry there's all the flak following you around right now...

I can certainly relate to your delemma....
Sleep seems to be the best answer for me personally. But in an unfortunate turn of events I also seem to have some insomnia issues...and a dislike for putting my head down to rest when it seems like I've accomplished nothing with that day...

It seems like we have similar difficulties....in that if we aren't feeling well. Then nothing is well.
So I'll close by saying this....

I love your posts...you are inspirational and very talented....
Please take the best care of
yourself possible....

I look forward to more posts..

Great to see you back on the innernets, sir.
Sucks about not being able to work with Brand Studios for your book, cause Mr. Ruiz is the first one I'd go to to make an art book. Hmm...local printers? Maybe check with a local publisher and see who they work with- and if they're too expensive, maybe they can recommend someone and go on until happiness is the result.
Health and life moving faster than one can keep up is something I understand completely, having two children in High School myself. It's difficult to be the "cool dad" when they just think of you as a schmuck who couldn't possibly know what they're going thru- no matter what you do. Add long commutes and the usual work woes and I'm surprised I don't have black rings also. Keep your chin up, sir. We just have to be content with the notion that we do what we do because we enjoy it and we'd find fault no matter how good it was and that our family's are made better by our tantrums and constant drive to see them be better.

Take Care
Brad

Always great to see some new stuff from you my friend!!!

I'm a bit confused though about the distance thing concerning publishing a book with Brand Press, which we all agree puts out a top-shelf product. Maybe twenty years ago you could develop ulcers when you had to pack up your originals and ship them overseas...but we can ftp hi-res images anywhere now.

As far as the copyright thing I don't think it's an issue...I mean Jason Seiler just published a terrific book with Alberto of his caricatures and I'm sure he used reference for all of them.

Now go buy a bicycle and get some exercise...I promise you'll feel alot better!!!

Stay well Brother...hope you can work things out, the world needs a Milenko book!!!

Thanks for the cheers guys :)

Vince, in regards to the distance thing, sending the files for print is not an issue, it is the finished product that creates the hiccups. Alberto would have to send me my stash all the way to Australia, and once I receive them, I would have to sell them back to US. Shipping 500 books half way around the world would be fairly costly exercise. My adolescent plan now is to Ask Mr Ruiz kindly to help me with the layout and design side of things if he can find some time (even a good advice will do), and then try to find a local printer to finish the job. Hopefuly, that will make the books a bit cheaper to make so I can sell them a bit cheaper too.
All this, again, is off the top of my head, I did not have time to do any legwork yet, nor have I spoken to Dr Ruiz about the prospect. I am still digging through my shit trying to find high rez copies of stuff for the book.
Cheers

Milenko

Once again I find myself apologizing for my ignorance...believe me, it's not easy going through life as a jerk!!!

I had just presumed that Brand Press handled some of the distribution.

In anycase I really hope you can make this happen. I know there's whole lotta Bibliophiles out there that would love to own a book with your stuff in it!!!!

All the best always

Hey man. Nice to have you back. Things will get better indeed. Seems to me you need some anger management thingy. But IMHO, take things a easy a little. One step at a time. Chill ya. Look forward to new postings from ya. Take care man.

Hm. A little suggestion here, but maybe you've already thought about that.
How about putting the credits and websites adress of the models in your book?
I don't know, but they could be interested in appearing in a product that shows more artistic display than them spreading their legs...

But we don't know. Still, i'd give it a try.

Boo, that would be really cool idea.
Unfortunately, I do not know who any of these models are :(.
I just occasionally collect random photos off the various sites I stumble upon, and then, when I want to draw something from reference, I go through the thumbnails of the images in my folder and pick ones that draw my attention at that size.
Most image jpegs just have a random number as their name and there's no mentions of the models' names on the images themselves. so I have no clue who they are. If they are someone famous, or if I know, I try to give them credit. But, I really suck at caricature and for some reason do not fancy famous ones (possibly because I barely get any decent likeness happening and my *lack of* skill is easier to spot on the famous girls), so girls I pick to draw are totally random. I do not know if they are famous or not but I sure have not heard of them. But I do appreciate their beauty and the photos I choose are definitely ones that stood out for me. So yes, I agree, mentioning them would help, but I can not help it as i have no clue who they are.
Also, these paintings from reference are meant to be practice only, as I much prefer my other stuff and my other work is more enjoyable to do, but people seem to like them so it is a pickle.
Thanks again for the advice, I will definitely consider it.

Cheers to you and all the others for their post,

Regards,

Milenko
