New beginning...

Ah yes, just a quick note in case you did not realize this before: images can be viewed in full size if you right-click-open in new window :)

This is a quick sketch of an island my main protagonist was born on. It is rough and wonky, but I think it has enough space and enough fun elements to sustain a family of eight elvish looking characters :)

With all this time on my hands, I decided to start working on a long over due personal project, one of those I kept telling myself I would do if I ever had time.

Well now, I do have the time, and I will start cranking.

Problem is that I have 3 I would like to do, and I have to choose one to focus on.

I decided to fiddle with all of them until I decide.

I will keep on putting the first steps into this post here so hopefully, the amount of artwork will grow.

For the time being, this is just the first sketch to get things rolling.

I have had fragments of this story in my head for almost ten years now, and instead of trying to put it all together at once, i will chase those fragments until they start coming together. It will be concept art, snippets of the story, silly gags etc, whatever comes to mind until I feel ready for more and the time is right.

Too much time on my hands

I am a little bit lost these days, trying to have some rest from craploads of work but at the same time freaking out because I am not used to being idle.

Well, last night, there was a Family guy marathon, and I wanted to try my hand at drawing those characters.

Much like with everything else I tried to interpret the style loosely (quickly becoming a poor excuse for not staying on model) and to add a little gag or 2.

Or 3 :)

And this is the outcome.

Not too great, but at least something to put here and keep the blog alive :)

I was just sketching some chubby cuties, and decided I liked a few of them enough to put some time into presenting them nicely.

Since we finished the game, I have found myself passing through a range of amazing moods, and I do not know why.

Depression, happiness, mild anger, rage, blind rage, disappointment in humanity, some more happiness then concern and so many others...

I do not know, I guess this is the first time in my adult life where I have nothing to do and I want nothing to do.

There is no next thing, at least not yet.

I can do anything i want, but all I want is to rest and wander the shopping mall corridors occasionally do a sketch or 2 and such.

In a time I have spare now, I finally think it is about the time to start putting a sketch book together.

So as of Monday, that is what I am going to do !

Counting the hours...

In under 9 hours, our game will hit the Steam.

Twenty two months of solid work of four people.

And nine months of help from Kieran and Leonard.

Kieran did sound integration and additional programming, Leonard did sound and integrated Jon Hopkins tracks, so they change as you progress through the game.

Everyone did their job really well and worked really hard.

We made gameplay use of everything- Physics, fluid and lighting.

We tweaked and fixed for months, every time making it a little bit better and a little bit more polished.

"Vessel" is not perfect in any sense, but it is fun and enjoyable, fresh and new.

It has been made with love every step of the way, and we did everything the best way we knew how.

I spent every fucking day in last year and a half working on it, no breaks nor holidays, not even free weekends.

And so did the rest of the guys.

I hope at least someone looks at it in the end and says I can't believe it was made by 6 people.

I have no idea if it is going to do any good nor if anyone is going ti buy it.

At this stage though that is not what is most important.

This is the first time in my life that I decided to let go of the comfy salary and did my best to try and put my money where my mouth is.

Having a few people to help us would have been nice, but I am even happy that it was all me and Mark, all the art, and I hope he is happy too.

Anyhow, in a few hours it will start selling on steam for $13.45 and it is also available on ourstrange loop website (scroll down the page a bit and you will see the store) for the same price, except, as I understand it is better for us if we sell it off the site

At the end of this adventure, everyone is pretty much broke, and we can not afford much advertising at all.
